Fair Food

Who doesn't LOVE fried food? I will pretty much go to a fair, ball game, tailgate, just for the food. If they have deliciously bad for you food I'm there! My pilot especially appreciates that I'll go to any football games with him and I won't complain as long as I get my food. One of my all time Fair favorites is corn dogs and fries. I found the recipe for the corn dogs on pinterest. I think next time I might add a teaspoon or two of sugar just to give it a little something more. You don't have to have a deep fryer, in fact next time I think I'll try the pan method, I had some issues with the corn dogs sticking to the bottom.

Adapted from Pioneer Women

Ingredients for Corn Dogs
3 cups Krusteaz Pancake Mix
1 cup Yellow Corn Meal
1 whole egg, beaten
3 cups water, add more if needed
1-2 teaspoons of sugar
Package of Smoked Sausage or Hot Dogs
Chopsticks
Oil for frying

In a large bowl, combine pancake mix, cornmeal, and sugar. Stir to combine. Add egg and water, adding more water as needed. Heat oil over medium-high tea or set your deep fryer on a setting you prefer. Insert sticks into sausages or hot dogs. Dip the hot dogs into the batter and allow excess to drip off for a couple of seconds. Carefully drop into the oil (stick and all) and use tongs or a spoon to make sure it doesn't hit the bottom of the pan and stick. Turn over frequently for even browning, and remove it from the oil when the outside is deep golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes.

Serve with Ketchup, Spicy Mustard, or Fry Sauce

  1. Yum! I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys pretty much all fried, no-good-for-you food. And corndogs sound delish right now! Thanks for the recipes!
